This is an article about a gamemode

Survival (previously known as Survival Plots) is one of the gamemodes of Minecraft Central. It was added on the 29th of March 2014. The goal of Survival is to gather resources and build all kinds of things with them. There is only one Survival server.

General Info[]

The goal of Survival is to gather resources from the Resource world and then build a base in one of the permanent worlds. For some players, the goal is to collect as many valuable items as possible. There was originally no currency on the Survival server but it was added in Survival 3.0. There is a Resources World, Nether Resources World, Survival World (Overworld), Nether World and The End. The server has kits for each Premium rank.

The item selector of Survival is an Oak Sappling. The NPC in Lobbies is Indiana Jones who is holding an Oak Sappling. The GUI item and NPC item used to be a Coal Ore block before the 20th of May 2021.

Resets and Renovations[]

There have been 10 resets and 2 renovations to the Survival server. The first reset on the 23rd of November 2015 added a new spawn, a PvP Arena, the End Resource World and many more new features.

The second reset on the 9th of March 2017 added a new spawn and introduced economy to the server. New features included the Auction House and Spawners, along with Boss World. Boss World was never implemented, though. The WorldEdit perk from Treasure Chests was also removed.

With the 3rd reset on the 19th of January 2018, a new spawn, new shop system, new resource world spawns and Boss World were added. Also a new Treasure type, Boss Event Treasure, was added along with new rewards for all the Treasures. On the 29th of June 2018, Wager Duels were added to Survival.

A new spawn, new PvP arena and the End Resource world were added with the 4th reset on the 27th of July 2018. The coinflip plugin was changed a bit, the Boss plugin was changed and /bounty and /trade were added. Envoys, new commands and Quests were introduced too. In addition there were multiple bug fixes and multiple items were removed from /shop, to make Survival more "survival-like". In addition, monuments displaying the top 6 players were added to the spawn.

On the 2nd of March 2019 Survival 6.0 was released. A new spawn and a new PvP arena were added and the Resource World was made to change the seed every 14 days. The economy was revamped and spawner limits were set on plots. In addition, boats and minecarts could now be used on the plots, as all players could enter them and they didn't despawn. Loot protection, confirmation GUIs for coinflips and ChestShops, SellWands, plot clearing and CoreProtect were added. Some Treasure rewards were changed and some smaller changes were also made.

The launch of Survival 7.0 on the 1st of November 2019 meant a big change for the server. The version was updated from 1.8.9 to 1.12.2. This allowed the addition of new blocks, the End features and many more changes. There were also some major changes to the donator perks. /Fly was disabled in Resource worlds and the kits were changed. The economy was also changed, as players could no longer buy spawners from the shop. The Envoy plugin was updated to match the other servers, SellWands were removed, Treasure Chest rewards changed and Money Pouches and HoloSkulls added. In addition, the difficulty was set to hard. The plots didn't have a flat ground anymore, as they now got some hills and trees. On the 10th of November 2019 a /headshop was added which allowed players to buy custom heads for $25,000 each.

The 8th season of Survival was released on the 20th of November 2020. The server version remained as 1.12.2 but it was also playable in lower versions. Multiple new features were added, most notably the new Jobs system which had 5 different jobs to choose from. The in-game /Shop was removed completely. The Treasure Chest rewards were changed a bit: Harvest Hoes were removed from the server and replaced by Job Amplifiers. Rename Scrolls were also made mergeable. Some new commands for viewing the top players were added, along with /hat for Lapis ranks and higher. Survival was also linked to the Schematic Center, allowing players to download their plots. New features included sitting on stairs, 1.8 PvP mechanics in the PvP arena, improved Ender Dragon fights and the website leaderboards being changed to contain more useful information. The Overworld Resource World now got a new seed every 28 days instead of every 14 days, the tutorial room was updated and the default plot layout was edited a bit. In regards to server events, the Envoy rewards were edited, the Ender Dragon fights now rewarded money to the top players and the Boss Event Treasure was renamed to Event Treasure. The Kit Starter was modified to give 64 wooden planks instead of 16 logs.

On the 15th of October 2021 Survival 9.0 was released. It featured a massive update to Minecraft version 1.17.1, adding all the features of the previous versions too. Another massive change was the removal of plots and adding a Survival World with claims instead. Players could claim areas inside this world, along with the Nether and the End. These worlds don't reset during the season. There is also a Resources World where players can mine freely. Access to Nether and the End is done through the vanilla method of portals. To help navigating in the big Overworld (40k x 40k blocks), the command /wild was added. This took the player to a random location in the world. PvP could now be enabled by the player themselves by using /pvp. This enabled PvP everywhere else than spawn. In addition, players could create their own warps which are displayed in the global list of warps. Some changes were made to the perks, such as the removal of additional plots perk (replaced by Automatic Job Switcher) and adding the new 1.12+ disguises to the disguise perk. A new Kit Claim was added, along with the Voting Villager. The amount of claims can be expanded by getting Claim Blocks through playtime or from the Voting Villager. The jobs were updated with the new blocks, too. The Envoy event was removed, along with Quests and bounties. At the same time the name of the sub-server was changed to just being Survival. The season went offline on the 31st of January 2022 in order to prepare for the next season, Survival 9.1.

Season 9.1 was not a reset but instead a renovation. It was released on the 3rd of February 2022. None of the items or statistics of players were reset but the server was upgraded to Minecraft version 1.18. As a result, the Resources world was updated into 1.18 while the Claim world only had the levels below Y 0 transformermed into the 1.18 terrain. The Nether and End worlds were not changed. In addition, the scoreboard would now display the world that the player is in. Players could now also create ChestShops in the Nether. Some bugs were also fixed, such as not being able to sit on the more recent stair types.

Survival 10.0 was released on the 24th of June 2022. It saw the server version updated to 1.19, along with a handful of new features. Most notably the claim system was redone, allowing for more commands and better control over the claims. In addition, a DynMap feature was added where players could view the claim world from the website. The spawn was updated and it now also featured a PvP arena. The player warps got a new feature where players could set descriptions to their warps and also select a category for the warp. Categories included Shop, Social, Combat and Grinder. In addition, the behaviour of day and night cycle was changed to only require 20% of the players to sleep for it to change into day. On the 28th of June 2022 claiming in the End was enabled, apart from the main island.

The 11th season, Survival 11.0, was released on the 7th of July 2023. The main features included several improvements to the claim system, two new events (Spleef Event and Random Challenge Event) and a new Resource Nether world. In addition, the PvP arena was moved to a new separate world with a combat timer. Several changes were also made to the Jobs, including a buff to Farmer and the possibility to pause Job Amplifiers in the job GUI. Two new disguises, Camel and Sniffer, were also added, Mangrove and Cherry Logs added to Kit Building and the Voting Villager rewards were changed a bit. There were also several features which were now added to Survival after the other sub-servers already had them, such as the Seasonal Treasure, the /toggles command and the ability to mute the Voting Villager. Chest Shops were also enabled in the End world. The spawn was also updated. Later, on the 10th of July 2023, custom skins and Skin Treasure were introduced to Survival, making it the first sub-server to feature custom skins.

On the 1st of December 2023 a renovation was made on the Survival server, launching season 11.5. It was not a reset but it added many new features and introduced some bug fixes. A random chat game which involves unscrambling a word or solving a math equation was added, along with the ability to view your own disguise. The ability to name a claim was also added (/claim name), and the claim information would now also show the creation date of the claim. Job Amplifiers would now also pause if a player logs out. Staff members also got the ability to remove the warps of players. Changes to current systems included a 10 second cooldown to /wild and several changes to the Random Challenge Event. The event was changed to be active only in the Resource worlds, and kills from TNT explosion were excluded. There is also an announcement before the event starts. The use of Elytra was disabled in the PvP arena.

Jobs[]

Jobs were added with Survival 8.0 on the 20th of November 2020. There are 5 jobs that the players can choose from and switch between them: Miner, Woodcutter, Fisherman, Farmer and Excavator. When a player is assigned to a job, they get money and job experience by breaking certain blocks or obtaining certain items. When a specific amount of job experience has been reached, they can level up by paying money. Each level gives some extra money from the mined blocks and items. Every job has a maximum level of 99, and the added up levels from every job are displayed in front of the player's name. The maximum level in total is 495.

There is also a perk, Automatic Job Switcher, which changes the job depending on the action that the player has performed. For example it automatically detects breaking logs as belonging to the Woodcutter job. Players can accelerate their progress by using Job Amplifiers which double the amount of experience and money gained from the job. The Job Amplifiers last for 30 minutes. Starting from the 7th of July 2023, with Survival 11.0, players can also pause the amplifier in the /jobs menu. With season 11.5, on the 1st of December 2023, Job Amplifiers would pause if the player logged out.

Claims[]

Claims were added on the 15th of October 2021 with Survival 9.0. Players can claim an area in the claim Overworld by using a golden shovel. At first, claims couldn't be made in other worlds but claims were allowed in the Nether on the 31st of October 2021. When players claim land, it reduces the amount of available claim blocks. Every player starts with 200 claim blocks and they can be gained from Treasure Chests, the Voting Villager, through playtime and events. Players used to get 25 claim blocks for every hour that they spent in-game but it was changed to 1 block for 2 minutes of gameplay (non-AFK) on the 24th of June 2022.

On the 24th of June 2022 with Survival 10.0 the claims plugin was updated with multiple new features. Players could now set a claim description, inspect a log of all the placed/broken blocks, set claim permissions to trusted and visiting players, withdraw claim blocks into a physical item, kick players from the claim and change certain claim settings. These settings allow explosions and fire spread on the claims if the player wants to enable them. On the 28th of June 2022 claiming in the End was enabled, apart from the main island.

Survival 11.0 introduced several changes to the claim system on the 7th of July 2023. The changes introduced unique permissions for individual claims, along with individual bans and trusted players. New permissions, such as damaging friendly and hostile mobs and setting warps and homes were added. Players could now also hide their claim from the DynMap. Later, on the 1st of December 2023 the ability to name claims was added.
